A Man for all Seasons

In February 2023, Brian Miller and his friends completed an 50KM cross country ski challenge. The fundraiser raised over $3, 800.

One of their friends father is living with dementia, like over half a million other Canadians. While diagnosis, research and medication take up a lot of the of the focus, especially early on, the day centre teams work within the tough situation in the day in day out, providing safe and stimulating away-from-home programming. This gives indispensable respite for the primary caregivers and wonderful experiences for the person living with dementia.

"Alzheimer Groupe (AGI) has trained and passionate people that work to find the right engaging activities tailored to the individuals. This can be tough work, but they prove every week that their guests have passions and are able to enjoy things, even in this season of their life. This year, we are supporting Alzheimer Groupe (AGI) as they were the first organization to open their centre to our friend’s father in the middle of the pandemic." - Brian Miller

Hand Made Soap Bars

Melanie Manna, a Recreation Therapist with 20 years of experience in the healthcare field and the owner of Les Services Raison d'Être, In-Home Service for seniors initiated a fundraising event with her clients, who are seniors with dementia. The clients used their own imagination and the creative process to design hand-woven squares and handmade soaps to sell for 5$ each while giving back to the community.

The proceeds raised from the sale of these homemade products will be generously donated to the Alzheimer Groupe Inc. (AGI) in support of people living with dementia and their caregivers. To date, $100 has been raised.

A heartfelt thank you to inspiring people like Melanie and her clients for undertaking such a wonderful initiative!
